Dear Meep Customers,We’re pleased to announce the release of our new firmware upgrade version 2.1, which is applicable for all prior software versions of MEEP! This firmware upgrade greatly improves the overall user-experience and performance of the MEEP! Particularly on the MEEP!

  1. Blackberry Ota Download

Finally registered it and downloaded apps from scratch since i lost my. All charging issues with the Meep tablet are handled by the OSI call.

Chat communicator and picture viewer.Additionally, as a highly requested feature, the Meep will now allow parents to register, set up, and manage the MEEP! Together parental setting on the MEEP!

Tablet itself. Your child can now simply hand his/her MEEP! To you to approve their requests for Meep! Coins, game downloads or friend approval.

For easy access to Google Play downloads, the 2.1 firmware also separates Google Play items from our MEEP! And you will be able to go to Google Play directly on the MEEP!

Blackberry Ota Download

Through the MEEP! Together parental setting. You will receive an update notification within the next couple of weeks when you turn on your MEEP!

And connect it to Wi-Fi. You can choose to simply tap on it to start downloading the OTA, or you can choose to do it later and in that case, the notification will keep popping up on your MEEP! As a daily reminder to update its firmware.Thank you, and happy Meeping!Yours sincerely,Oregon Scientific Xplore Team. 2.1.2 is here! Our newest firmware update is ready for your Meep. If you did not receive an automatic notification on your Meep prompting you to update, you can obtain the Ota in one of the following 3 ways:Option 1: If you already have the Ota App from our 2.0 update in your Apps folder, you can simply tap on the icon to begin the Ota.

Note: This app is now a system app and will forever remain on your Meep. Most people will choose the left-hand option labeled 'Download and Install'. If this does not work for you, if you receive any error messages, then you will want to use the right-side method, 'Mac/PC method' which will avoid download errors. Instructions for that method can be found here:Option 2: If you do not have the Ota App on your Meep, you may obtain it in the Meep Store (you will need to have parental controls set to allow Meep Store use). The App will download into the Apps folder, and you will then proceed as above with the final installation.Option 3: If you do not have the App on your Meep and cannot connect to the Meep Store, you may also obtain the Ota App through GooglePlay (you will need to have the parental controls set to allow GooglePlay use). Because of a recent issue with GooglePlay and their latest update (see our post on April 29th about this), you may need to download from GooglePlay's website on a computer over Wifi to your Meep. You would login to GooglePlay on a computer with the Meep's Gmail address as created through the parent portal on the Meep, and then select OSGD as the device to install to.

Once the App is downloaded to your Apps folder, you'll need to complete the process of Option 1 for the final installation. Our development team has asked us to share the following important information. This applies for anyone who has not yet performed the 2.1.2 firmware (OTA) update and for all future OTA's for Meep:The following information applies for all future OTA's on Meep and is important to prevent operational issues with your Meep:Our development team has just made us aware of some issues that may occur while performing the 2.1 OTA update or afterwards. It is strongly recommended that you plug your MEEP!

Using the power cord into a wall outlet before performing the OTA update. This will ensure that the OTA can successfully complete. While your OTA may download and install correctly without plugging in, we are finding some files may be affected and cause future problems. The best thing to do is to plug your Meep into the wall during any OTA update. I hope I am understanding you correctly- are you saying this Meep will not boot up? Is it stuck in the loading screen?

There are a couple of things you can try for this- both rebooting (turning the Meep fully off and on again) and also the reset button on the back of the Meep. If this is the issue and neither method will resolve it, then please contact your local call centre or retailer of purchase as it then is considered a hardware issue. If you can boot up, you must use the Ota App to install updates- you can get the update file from our website, but you still must use the App to run the update itself- there is no way to update other than with the App.Jill.

Q: What is OTA? Why is this important for me to know?A: OTA (Over-The-Air) is a firmware upgrade to your MEEP! That brings the MEEP! To the most current software version.

In the initial production MEEP!s the first OTA needs to be initiated by the user. The OTA will show up in the bottom right corner within a few minutes after turning on and connecting the MEEP! After the first OTA has completed there may be additional OTA's that will automatically upgrade the MEEP!

As we will constantly strive to improve the MEEP! Experience we will continually update the software to do so. Our system will automatically check if the software version on your MEEP! Is the latest one. If there is an updated version available, a notification will pop-up in the bottom right corner of the screen and ask you to download the OTA package.Q: Does upgrading the MEEP! Improve its performance?A: Yes.

We are constantly working on optimizing the MEEP! Experience and adding new features. Even after purchasing your MEEP!, you will be able to upgrade the software online, via OTA (Over-The-Air). We strongly recommend downloading the OTA packages as they will improve the MEEP! Q: Why must a MEEP! Be registered?A: This is to ensure parents can set up the MEEP! With as much restriction or allowance as they desire for their child.

Must be registered by an adult in order for the child to gain online access. Once the OTA process is complete and the MEEP! Is at least at version 1.1 (you can check by clicking help on the right scroll wheel and the version number and serial number will be listed), you will then be able to register the MEEP!

On the parental portal.Q: How do I register the MEEP! On the parent portal?A: To register the MEEP! You must use either Google Chrome or Apple Safari as it is coded in HTML 5. Go to portal.meeptablet.com and click on 'Create an account'. Enter in all the information and once complete you will have access to parental controls for the MEEP!Q: Can I change later the information provided during the registration including the email?A: As of today this is not possible, please make sure information entered are correct.

We are working on an upgrade so that you can update afterward the information you provided.Q Why do you require Google Chrome or Apple Safari to register the MEEP! And use the parental portal?A: Our parental portal is designed in html 5 so as to give you the most optimized browsing experience. Both Google Chrome and Apple Safari are HTML 5 capable browsers. It is not the case for all versions of Explorer and Firefox. Some of the older versions of Safari can also be problematic, please make sure you have the latest one. We are working on opening more options so that you can use other type of browsers in the future.Q: Why is a credit card required to register the MEEP!?A: We require a one dollar charge to a credit card in order to maintain COPPA (Child online protection act) compliance which ensures that an adult is registering the MEEP!

This is a one-time charge and the one dollar is converted to 100 MEEP! Coins which are then available for the MEEP! We do not maintain the credit card information which is strictly used only as a way to confirm that the MEEP! Is being registered by the parent or an adult.Q: My credit card isn’t accepted, what can I do?A: Some specific credit cards are not supported, if this happen you can contact our customer support at 1-(800)-853-8883 8am – 5pm M-F. They will help you to solve thisQ: Why must I set up a Gmail account? Why should it be separate from my own Gmail account?A: A Gmail account is necessary in order to access Google Play content.

We highly recommend that you set up a new Gmail account for your child as opposed to using your own Gmail account. If you use your own Gmail account to set up Google play then your Gmail messages will flow into the MEEP! If Gmail being set up in the MEEP!

Therefore it's best to set up a Gmail account for your child.Q: Can you explain the parental controls in greater details?A: MEEP! Parental controls will allow you to set up as much restriction or allowance as you desire for your child. For example you can set one hour of playtime for games and at the end of that hour your child will no longer be able to play games. This is handy when trying to manage time for the MEEP! With everything else going on in the household. The timers reset the following day, and so in this example the child would have an hour each day for games until you change the setting to another one.

You are also able to set access the MEEP! Store, Google play, and the MEEP! Communicator (chat function on the left wheel) in the parental controls. Lastly you are able to set the overall access to the Internet. You can limit the child to only websites that are Oregon scientific certified for kids or as your child gets older you can open it up so they can type in their own URLs.

However we always maintain a blacklist of inappropriate sites no matter what the settings are for the parental controls. If there are websites that you feel are appropriate for your child you can add them via the portal and the website will show up on the MEEP!Q: What is the bad words list?

What is blacklisting and white listing?A: We maintain a bad words list and you can add to that bad words list as well. This precludes your child from using bad words that you feel are inappropriate in chat or in search. Q: It seems the harder I press on an icon the less responsive it is.A: MEEP! Uses an optical interface. It ACTUALLY has greater response to a lighter touch. We will continue to improve the interface with future firmware updates.Q: I'm having trouble having key presses register on the MEEP! The scroll wheel seems to spin around often and I can't get the menu to register a key press.

What can I do?A: First make sure you've completed the OTA process and are version 1.1. Second use a light touch when selecting icons as this is an optical screen.

A lighter touch works best. We will continue to make future improvements and updates to optimize overall touch screen functionality.Q: The film strip view loads slowly, is there anything I can do?A: The more apps on the MEEP!, the more the menu needs to load.

You can click the upper right corner icon and take the MEEP! To a grid view for faster loading.Q: I still can't get my MEEP! Connected to the Internet.A: Make sure you have followed the instructions in the MEEP! User manual, and pay attention to the following points:. Make sure that there is a Wi-Fi hotspot nearby. Make sure that you have setup the Wi-Fi connection in 'Settings'.

The connection quality depends on the quality of the Wi-Fi signal. Any security settings on the network can affect the online experience of MEEP!

So make sure any password enabled WIFI service has the password entered on the MEEP!. If you have 3G or 4G on your Smartphone, you may be able to share the connection to the MEEP! By turning on the WiFi hotspot function!Q: Why doesn't MEEP! Let me watch flash videos or play flash games?A: This is not a MEEP!

Issue as much as it is an Android issue. In August 2012 Adobe dropped flash support for Android in lieu of HTML 5.0 video standards. It will take some time for websites to incorporate the new HTML 5.0 code for video playback. We are looking at ways to solve this issue until HTML 5.0 is widely incorporated.Q: Sometimes children can't use the YouTube Player or can't view the video they searched for.A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions or didn't authorize some videos. All online functions are blocked by default in order to provide a safe environment for MEEP!

Once you approve the access, your children will be able to use YouTube Player.Another reason is that the video itself is encrypted by YouTube and may not be available for certain devices, including the MEEP! We’re now filtering all those incompatible videos and we will improve the YouTube player in further version of the MEEP! SoftwareQ: Sometimes children can't use the Web Browser or can't access the website they are looking for.A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions or didn't authorize some sites. All online functions are blocked by default in order to provide a safe environment for MEEP! Once you approve the access, your children will be able to use the Web Browser.Q: Sometimes children can't view the website they want, or they can't read some contents on the website.A: It may be because the website is blocked by you or supervisors that you assigned, as well as by Oregon Scientific.

If children can't read some contents, it may be because MEEP! Doesn't support the file format of the content.Q: Sometimes children can't use the Communicator.A: It may be because you or supervisors that you assigned have blocked access to the online functions. All online functions are blocked by default in order to provide a safe environment for MEEP! Once you approve the access, your children will be able to use the Communicator.Q: We have Netflix, does it work on the MEEP!?A: The answer is YES, however the current Android version of Netflix put out in early September has issue with many android devices, and does not currently run with MEEP! We expect that will be fixed by Netflix shortly. Q: What can I do if my MEEP!

Hangs or has sluggish performance?A: It is normal for a smart device to experience temporary slow performance or even hang up, especially when the device has been used non-stop for several hours. Please try the following:. Switch off the device (Press and hold the button for around 10 seconds) and switch it on again. Any unsaved content will be lost in the process.

Press the reset button in the back. Make sure that you have downloaded the latest OTA package before doing so. Download a task killing app from Google Play. Have it installed and use it to end unnecessary tasks.Q: The battery seems to drain quickly. Is there something I can do to extend battery life?A: Wi-Fi connections tend to drain the battery faster so if the child is not online and is mostly playing games or other activities it's best to turn Wi-Fi off. Additionally processor intensive activities such as movies and certain games will make the battery drain faster. It's important to note that we included a charger but also the MEEP!

Can be charged via USB. We also intend to have a car charger available on the market shortly.Q:I notice the MEEP!

Comes with an AC adaptor. Does it also charge via USB?A: Yes, the MEEP!

Battery will be charged if connected via USB to a PC or Mac. Q: How do I add contents to the MEEP! From a PC or Mac?A: Connect the MEEP! Via USB to PC or Mac and then:. On the MEEP! Screen click 'turn on USB Storage'. You can now open the file folders for the MEEP!

From there you can drag files into the data folder and the photos will show up on the Meep! Software and architecture.Q: My children don’t know how to view files from an microSD card on my MEEP!A: Please read the microSD card section of the user manual on the MEEP!
